Patrick & Ashley

August 6, 2015

Ashley and Patrick wanted "casual and stress free" for their wedding day. Dressed in jeans, topped with a lacey white blouse, this beautiful bride chose to marry in the mountains above Skagway. I suggested "Mountain Madness" for their wedding venue.

We drove for 20 minutes, into White’s Pass alpine, in search of a scenic mountain setting. Their two friends, one whom was also their photographer, joined us.

It was misting lightly with a side of low clouds. Umbrellas were dampened, but not spirits. Laughter and talk among friends ensued as we explored the alpine. We came upon this quiet meandering stream and they chose this, for their perfect ceremony location. Vows exchanged, we then drove to other scenic locations on the way back to Skagway.

Stops on the way back to town, included many scenic photo opportunities, such as beautiful Bridal Veil Falls, the Welcome To Alaska Sign, alpine lakes, scenic mountain vistas and more.

Ashley loved her pretty yellow bouquet of daisies, lilies and roses, created by Charlotte Jewell, of Jewell Gardens. She often made them the star attraction of their photos.

Their beautifully decorated wedding cake, (made by Michelle Pierce of www.llcbakery.com), waited for them on a table that Kate had decorated. They had chosen to have their reception on my covered back porch back in Skagway.

Our small group of five enjoyed watching the bride and groom cut their cake. We shared a time of eating and chatting about the day's memorable events. A champagne toast was then given to the beautiful couple, for a happy life together!

Mountain Madness is one of my personal favorite celebration locations. My dream wedding would take place in mountain alpine, so it's always a joy to celebrate special occassions here.

The weather can be a bit tricky, if it's foggy or rainy, but the mist falling on this day, added to the adventurous mood of the day. No one's spirits were dampended by the weather.

Thank you, Patrick and Ashley, for a wonderful day! I felt as if I were a part of your family that day!
